This is student work in pursuit of a masters degree. This is not an authentic brand.
I was born into the role of a caretaker. My twin brother was diagnosed with Autism at 22 months old. From that day on, I made it my personal mission to put others before myself, desperately trying to please and care for those I loved. As I grew older, I took this same role into my relationships, sacrificing my own needs and wants to make sure others were met. I was able to avoid my own problems this way, whilst being dragged down into a deep dark cycle of control.
Similarly, the psychedelic movement reflects a time where individuals sought to avoid the realities of war and destruction through drugs and preachings of love and happiness. The artwork of this time reflects the feelings they experienced while tripping on drugs, full of bold, liquid-like lines moving and flowing together in a bright symphony of color.

My chair reflects the intersection of this movement along with my personal story. It is a visual representation of love, an all encompassing, controlling force illustrated through fluid lines which eb and flow together to create a connection between control and boundaries.

My chair is a physical promise to myself of the boundaries I will create moving forward within my own relationships. The material of clear lucite symbolizes that love is an unseen force that can only be felt, as well as a reflection of the materials used in furniture during the 70s. The boundary will always allow for you to sit above the control, but never in it.
